LeaderShape Institute On-Site Coordinator

Application is now open.  The Application will close Monday, November 12th at 8:00 am.

The On-Site Coordinator (OSC) serves as an important member of the LeaderShape® Institute faculty, carrying out crucial logistical and conference management tasks during the session.  They work in partnership with the Program Coordinator throughout the year with recruitment of participants, fundraising, and logistical aspects of the program. The OSC serves alongside the LeaderShape faculty to ensure the success of the LeaderShape® Institute and is responsible for organizing the materials for both faculty and participants.  This position provides the opportunity for LeaderShape® graduates who are passionate about the LeaderShape® to further their involvement in the program as a member of the faculty.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • All applicants must be graduates of the LeaderShape® Institute
  • All applicants must meet NC State regulation 11.55.07 on Student Leadership.  Read more at: http://policies.ncsu.edu/regulation/reg-11-55-07
  • Preference will be given to applicants who will be returning as full-time students at NC State during the 2019-2020 academic year

Stipend:  $750 ($250 to be paid at the end of Fall and $500 to be paid after Institute)

On-Site Coordinator Major Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assist the Program Coordinator with logistics and planning for the LeaderShape® Institute
  • Assist the Program Coordinator with fundraising and presentations to various campus entities
  • Assist the Program Coordinator with participant recruitment
  • Serve on the Day 7 Advisory Committee and assist Graduate Intern with Day 7 programming
  • Serve as a faculty member during the LeaderShape® Institute
  • Participate in faculty training and all faculty meetings
  • Work in collaboration with the Co-Leads and Cluster Facilitators to ensure a successful LeaderShape® Institute
  • Organize all LeaderShape® supplies (both those provided by LeaderShape® and by NC State)
  • Follow the OSC to-do list to ensure that all tasks are done on time and with high attention to detail
  • Serve as a resource for Leads and Cluster Facilitators on campus climate and culture
  • Set up the Learning Community as needed by the Lead Facilitators
  • Serve as an on-site emergency contact for participants
  • Be thinking and acting one step ahead of the faculty and curriculum in terms of preparation and readiness
  • Be accountable to the Co-Lead Facilitators regarding training and curriculum of the LeaderShape® Institute
  • Be accountable to the Program Coordinator regarding training and curriculum of the LeaderShape® Institute
  • Serve as a role model for participants on what it means to lead with integrity
  • Be available the week following the Institute to assist with program wrap-up and follow through

Time Requirement:  Must attend Institute 5/13/19 to 5/19/2019; Attend one fall kick off leadership meeting; Starting in January 2019, Monthly and bi-weekly leadership team meetings; Attend student organization meetings to promote LeaderShape® and request financial assistance; Lead 4-5 orientation meetings in April 2019; Attend faculty preparation meetings

Leadership and Civic Engagement Work Study Position

Term: Academic Year
Hours: 5-7 per week
Compensation: $10 per hour

Only students with a Financial Aid Work-Study Award are eligible for this position.

  • Specific job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Assisting with the coordination of the Leadership Development Program, including: organizing handouts and presenter bio information, working alongside office student ambassadors, printing attendance sheets and entering attendance data, compiling attendance data to ensure student participants completion of program, communicating with workshop presenters, checking room reservations, assist with student registration transfers or issues with Reporter software, etc
  • Providing outstanding customer service to visitors as they come into the office
  • Handling initial inquiries about the office and communicating other questions to professional staff
  • Provide logistical and administrative support for office programs and initiatives as needed
  • File, organize and conduct database entries of various program information

The Work Study student will be allotted 5-7 hours per week during office hours M-F 8:30-5p. Student workers are required to maintain a GPA of 2.5 or above and be in good academic and student conduct standing.

Prior experience with Leadership and Civic Engagement initiatives, specifically Leadership Development Program, is preferred but not required. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to take initiative and follow through on tasks; exhibit critical thinking skills and ethical decision making; express interest in learning, supporting, and advancing the office’s mission, vision, and values.

Primary Functions of Position

Leadership and Civic Engagement is seeking students interested in the Leadership and Civic Engagement Ambassadors program. We want students who are engaged, passionate, and eager to work with our office to tackle social justice issues and strengthen their interests in leadership and service. Ambassadors will work alongside our Leadership and Civic Engagement interns by facilitating events, participating in service projects, and serving as representatives for theLeadership and Civic Engagement office.

Leadership and Civic Engagement Graphic Design Intern – 2 positions

Term: 2018-’19 Academic Year (summer term optional)
Hours: approximately 5-8 hrs per week
Compensation: $10-12 per hour

The Leadership and Civic Engagement Design Intern will serve as a member of the Leadership and Civic Engagement staff and will work in partnership with the Marketing & Communication Student Coordinator to promote and market Leadership and Civic Engagement and its events to the student body.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design and create promotional graphics for events and programs that meet office and division brand standards.  Graphics may be used for the Leadership and Civic Engagement website, social media, e-newsletter, billboard system, and print materials to engage multiple audiences that include students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members.
  • Participates in all stages of developing marketing and advertising materials to promote Leadership and Civic Engagement general office brand, as well as, Leadership and Civic Engagement programs and events (Leaders for Change, Alternative Service Break, Leadership Development Program, LeaderShape Institute, etc). This includes utilization and updating of an online project management system to ensure all requests are handled in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Assist with ordering of print marketing materials and posting images to university billboard system, social media, and website.
  • Responsible for updating and managing https://leadandengage.dasa.ncsu.edu/ design, graphics, and content in partnership with Leadership and Civic Engagement staff

Qualifications & Skills

  • Current NC State student in good standing
  • Must have demonstrated experience with graphic design, preferably around creating promotional materials; Adobe Suite Photoshop and Illustrator knowledge is strongly preferred
  • Must have demonstrated experience with creating and updating web pages; WordPress knowledge is strongly preferred
  • Must be available to work approximate 5-8 hours per week during M-F 8:30am – 5:00pm, select evening and weekend availability may be needed to assist with projects

Primary Functions of Position

This position will serve as a member of theLeadership and Civic Engagement staff and will support the various programmatic efforts within Leadership and Civic Engagement and will serve as a representative at programs/events as needed. This position will also assist with program coordination and development within Leadership and Civic Engagement and in partnership with campus & community stakeholders primarily through traditional and nontraditional marketing and communication strategies.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Planning, promoting, and implementing service projects for the Fall/Spring students, staff, and faculty present at NC State.
  • Work with university partners such as University Housing, UREC, New Student Programs, to plan general programming that engages summer students on topics of leadership, service, and social justice. The Goal is to have at minimum 4 Leadership and Civic Engagement Service Projects and Events during the 2017 – 2018 academic year.
  • Support Leadership and Civic Engagement team with ongoing projects and initiatives
  • Will manage the online Volunteer Management platform, Galaxy Digital
  • Recruit community partners and organizations to post volunteer opportunities on the platform
  • Conduct trainings for student organizations for the platform

Qualifications & Skills

  • Well organized, enthusiastic, excellent written communication to partners and follow-up, prior event planning and programming experience preferred.
  • Must be available to work approximate 10 hours per week during M-F 8:30am – 5:00pm, select evening and weekend availability may be needed to assist with projects

The Leadership Development Student Coordinator will serve as a member of the Leadership and Civic Engagement staff. The Leadership Development Student Coordinator will support the various programmatic efforts within Leadership and Civic Engagement and will serve as a representative at programs/events as needed. This position will also assist with program coordination and development within Leadership and Civic Engagement and in partnership with campus & community stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage workshops using Reporter software including student enrollment, attendance, and certificate credit
  • Work in partnership with the Marketing & Communications Student Coordinator to promote Leadership Development Program to increase reach and attendance
  • Assist in the development and expansion of student Leadership Development Program through activities such as creating new workshops, developing new add ons to LDP foundations, researching peer programs, coordinating with campus partners, collecting student feedback, and providing support for existing and new workshops
  • Provide customer service within Leadership and Civic Engagement office suite as the front­line representative and point of contact for students, faculty, and presenters.
  • Organize data clearly and analyze documented materials.

Qualifications & Skills

  • LDP Certificate graduate preferred
  • Current undergraduate student in good standing; only undergraduate students will be considered

The Marketing & Communications Student Coordinator will serve as a member of theLeadership and Civic Engagement staff and will support the various programmatic efforts within Leadership and Civic Engagement and will serve as a representative at programs/events as needed.  This position will also assist with program coordination and development within Leadership and Civic Engagement and in partnership with campus & community stakeholders primarily through traditional and nontraditional marketing and communication strategies.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create dynamic content for the Leadership and Civic Engagement website and social media accounts to engage multiple audiences that include students, staff, faculty, alumni, and members of the community.
  • Develop and create an“Alumni & Friends” newsletter that will be distributed twice semesterly, and once during the summer.
  • Develop language and content to be included in the Leadership and Civic Engagement Newsletter
  • Responsible for promptly responding to message through social media accounts and the general Leadership and Civic Engagement-Office email account
  • Utilize Constant Contact to create email marketing campaigns to effectively engage newsletter subscribers
  • Reliable when meeting deadlines and expectations

Qualifications & Skills

  • Have demonstrated experience using social media technologies and third-party tools  to create, schedule, and deliver posts and content
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills and understand the value of tone and voice in creating content
  • Have demonstrated experience of developing content and updating website; wordpress experience preferred
  • Students with design experience in Photoshop and Illustrator are also preferred, but not required

Leadership and Civic Engagement Ambassador Student Coordinator

Term: March 2017 – May 2018 (summer term optional, but preferred)

Primary Functions of Position

Leadership and Civic Engagement is seeking a student interested in coordinating the office’s student Ambassador program. The ideal student for this position is detail-oriented, passionate, and eager to work with our office to coordinate and enhance the student ambassador program. This student will work alongside our Leadership and Civic Engagement graduate assistant for the remainder of the 2016-2017 academic year to develop ambassador materials, and recruit and hire student ambassadors. The student coordinator will then work with the office’s Associate Director throughout the 2017-2018 academic year to coordinate ambassador’s involvement in office programs and arrange logistics around professional development opportunities.

  • Coordinate and manage ambassador coverage for LDS workshops, office hours, and tabling events. Ensure ambassadors have needed materials, information, and are well-prepared for workshops, office hours, tabling, and other office initiatives
  • Coordinate professional development opportunities for students in conjunction with office staff and/or campus partners  (resume, cover letter, multicultural awareness, strengthsquest)
  • Serve as liaison between student ambassadors and Leadership and Civic Engagement staff
  • Support student ambassadors to meet both, Leadership and Civic Engagement office expectations, as well as their own
  • Track results of ambassador program and assess outcomes for future improvements

Primary Functions of Position

This position will serve as a member of the Leadership and Civic Engagement staff and will support the various programmatic efforts within Leadership and Civic Engagement and will serve as a representative at programs/events as needed. This position will also assist with program coordination and development within Leadership and Civic Engagement and in partnership with campus & community stakeholders primarily through traditional and nontraditional marketing and communication strategies.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create dynamic graphics and content for the Leadership and Civic Engagement website, social media, and print materials to engage multiple audiences that include students, staff, faculty, alumni, and members of the community.
  • Participates in various stages of developing marketing content and advertising materials to promote Leadership and Civic Engagement general office brand, as well as, Leadership and Civic Engagement events (Leaders for Change, leadership & service events, Alternative Service Break, etc)
  • Assist with order of print marketing materials and submission of images to marketing outlets
  • Manage Leadership and Civic Engagement social media accounts, responding to inquiries promptly and posting regularly (Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter)
  • Assist with updating website content and design

    Qualifications & Skills
  • Have demonstrated experience with graphic design, preferably around creating promotional materials; Photoshop and Illustrator knowledge is preferred
  • Have demonstrated experience using social media technologies to create, schedule, and deliver posts and content
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills and understand the value of tone and voice in creating content
  • Have demonstrated experience of developing content and updating website; WordPress experience preferred
  • Must be available to work approximate 10 hours per week during M-F 8:30am – 5:00pm, select evening and weekend availability may be needed to assist with projects
  • Creative, innovative, and desire to learn
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work while juggling several projects at once
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Leadership and Civic Engagement Engagement Summer Intern

Term: Summer 2018
Hours: 20 hours per week
Compensation: $10 per hour
Primary Functions of Position
This position will serve as a member of the Leadership and Civic Engagement staff and will support the various programmatic efforts within Leadership and Civic Engagement and will serve as a representative at programs/events as needed. This position will also assist with program coordination and development within Leadership and Civic Engagement and in partnership with campus & community stakeholders primarily through traditional and nontraditional marketing and communication strategies.
Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for staffing and scheduling summer Leadership and Civic Engagement Ambassadors for the campus resource fair for Summer Orientation Sessions
  • Developing the Leadership and Civic Engagement Orientation Presentation
  • Scheduling and Co-Presenting with Leadership and Civic Engagement Staff Member to incoming students and parents during summer orientation sessions
  • Plan, advertise, and execute the Leadership and Civic Engagement Open House as part of Wolfpack Welcome Week and Organizing the Leadership and Civic Engagement Booth at Packapalooza’17
  • Plan and Lead Leadership and Civic Engagement Summer Ambassador meetings and trainings
  • Support Leadership and Civic Engagement team with summer projects and initiatives

Qualifications & Skills

  • Well organized, enthusiastic, engaging public speaking and presentation skills
  • Scheduling Requirements: Must be available between M-F 10:50am-2:30pm for Orientation Sessions, all other hours will be scheduled between 8:30pm – 5:00pm
  • Must be available to work approximate 20 hours per week during M-F 8:30am – 5:00pm, select evening and weekend availability may be needed to assist with projects
  • Must be available to work events during Wolfpack Welcome Week (Open House & Packapalooza)

Service & Community Partnership Coordinator

Term:  Academic Year (summer term optional)
Hours: 10 hours per week
Compensation: $10-$12 per hour

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Planning, promoting, and implementing service projects for the Summer and establishing relationships for Fall/Spring students, staff, and faculty present at NC State.
  • Work with university partners such as University Housing, Recreation and Wellness, New Student Programs, to plan general programming that engages summer students on topics of leadership, service, and social justice.
  • Support Leadership and Civic Engagement team with ongoing projects and initiatives
  • Will manage the online Volunteer Management platform, Galaxy Digital
  • Recruit community partners and organizations to post volunteer opportunities on the platform
  • Conduct trainings for student organizations for the platform

Qualifications & Skills

  • Well organized, enthusiastic, excellent written communication to partners and follow-up, prior event planning and programming experience preferred.
